Handheld computer devices are also termed as Personal Digital Assistant or PDAs, which has become the major requirement of millions of people, throughout the world. A PDA is a handheld device, and a large number of handheld computers are based on blue tooth, wireless and many other technologies, which make them extremely adaptable and helpful. The main advantage of PDA is that it can store a large amount of data in a small box.

Generally, handheld computers are used for personal information manager (PIM) types of functions comprising maintenance of programs, keeping names and phone numbers, perform uncomplicated computations, taking notes, and, through a modem, transferring e-mail and getting information from the Web.
While purchasing a handheld computer or PDA, you have to keep some important things in mind. The vital things include memory, processor speed, display size and resolution, operating system, card slots, accessories etc. There are mainly two operating systems for PDA: Palm OS or Microsoft Pocket PC.
